Located in the vibrant heart of Vigo, The Othilio Bar is a culinary gem that masterfully blends casual comfort with upscale dining to offer an unforgettable gastronomic journey through Galician and broader Spanish flavors. This restaurant invites you into a modern, tastefully decorated space that sets the perfect tone for both celebratory dinners and refined everyday meals. The atmosphere buzzes with quiet excitement, balancing warmth and elegance in a way that makes every guest feel both welcomed and indulged.
The menu at The Othilio Bar showcases an impressive range of dishes that consistently garner praise for their authenticity and generosity. Among the most cherished offerings is their bread course served with an irresistibly rich truffle butter that teases the palate from the very first bite. The foie gras is decadently smooth and expertly prepared, while the tempura shrimp appetizer boasts a delightful crunch and impeccable seasoning. Notably, the aged beef carpaccio has been called the best some patrons have ever tasted—each slice exquisitely tender, bursting with nuanced flavors that linger long after the last forkful.
Seafood lovers will find themselves equally captivated by the octopus and whole roast turbot. While the octopus has received mixed reviews, many laud it as excellent, perfectly balancing texture and taste, and the turbot is praised for its fresh, delicate flavor accompanied by a crisp mixed salad and savory roasted potatoes that complement beautifully. Meanwhile, the Galician beef tartar is a standout starter, ideal for sharing and appreciating the region’s distinct culinary heritage.
Beyond the food, the dining experience at The Othilio Bar is elevated by attentive and efficient service, marked by moments of genuine friendliness and seamless hospitality. Though some visits hint at variability in staff warmth, it never overshadows the overall enjoyment of the meal. The portions are generous, ensuring each guest leaves fully satisfied without feeling hurried, and the generally well-paced delivery keeps the energy of the meal flowing effortlessly.
Priced attractively, especially in comparison to similar offerings in larger Spanish cities, The Othilio Bar offers excellent value without compromising quality or creativity. Its reputation for being fully booked by early afternoon underscores just how sought-after this destination is—reservations are recommended, especially for groups seeking a leisurely and refined dining experience. Solo travelers should also consider the bar area, which offers a more spontaneous but equally delightful way to engage with the culinary delights of the house.
In sum, dining at The Othilio Bar is more than a meal; it’s a memorable celebration of Galicia’s rich flavors and Spain’s culinary artistry. Whether you’re savoring the goose liver’s buttery depth, indulging in fresh seafood, or sharing signature dishes with friends, this restaurant invites you to pause, delight your senses, and make every bite an occasion.

The best meal we’ve had in Vigo, Galicia, and top 5 in Spain! What a wonderful experience and a pleasant surprise. Everything from the excellent service and the lovely atmosphere, to the amazingly delicious food was perfect. And the portions are very generous. The bread course comes with truffle butter that is amazing. The foie gras was great. The tempura shrimp appetizer was perfect, good crunch, and great sauces too. The lamb was sooooo delicious, perfectly cooked, wonderful sauce, and cheesy whipped potatoes. The large scallop was very good. Oh, and the rice pudding with cinnamon ice cream was to die for, seriously drool-worthy. We plan to go again!

The food was really great and cheap (compared to the places in Barcelona). Of the photos I put in, I only would not recommend the octopus - it was not bad but I had higher expectations from it.

Casual yet upscale restaurant with very good food. The dining room is modern and tastefully decorated. The aged beef carpaccio was the best I've had. My main meal of Octopus was excellent.

Went here with my friends to celebrate us passing Spanish B2 level exam and glad we chose this place. Everything we ordered was delicious, even the desserts. The food came rather fast, although the person attending us wasn’t the friendliest, but it didn’t ruin our time. Overall a good place to enjoy dinner.

We had a delicious lunch in this restaurant. A friendly greeting followed by great food and wine. We choose to start the Galician beef tartar to share, followed by a whole roast turbot served with a fresh mixed salad and small roasted potatoes. *Do note that previous reviews mention a menu del dia (which is usually cheaper than the a la carte). This however seems to have been discontinued or at least it wasn’t offered today.
